Using "By tag" mode keeps topic groups together. Each week becomes one batch.
How to use this page
1. Add your flashcards
Type or paste one card per line. Keep it simple. A card can be a question, an answer, or both sides separated by a colon. If you want to group cards by subject or chapter, start the line with a tag in square brackets like [biology] or [chapter-5].
2. Pick a split mode
Equal batches divides your list into the same number of groups. Good for planning a week of study. Fixed batch size makes each batch hold a set number of cards. Useful when you know you can only review 15 cards at a time. By tag keeps all cards with the same tag in one batch.
3. Adjust and review
Use the slider to change batch count or size. The preview on the right updates right away. Check the stats bar to see total cards, batch count, and the size of the largest batch. If one batch is too big, increase the number of batches or switch to a smaller batch size.
4. Save or share
Copy the plan to your clipboard and paste it into a notes app. Export a .txt file to keep on your device. Print a clean worksheet to use offline. Your input is also saved in your browser so you can close the tab and come back later.
Common mistakes
- Empty lines count as cards. Remove blank lines before splitting so they do not create empty slots in your batches.
- Tags need brackets. The tag mode only recognizes
[tag]at the very start of a line. Writingbiology:without brackets won not group anything. - Too many batches. If you ask for 10 batches but only have 6 cards, the page adjusts down. You will see 6 batches with one card each.
- Forgetting to export. Your list is saved in the browser, but clearing browser data removes it. Export a file if you want a permanent copy.
When to use each mode
Choose Equal batches when you know how many study sessions you have and want to fill them evenly. Choose Fixed batch size when you know how much you can handle in one sitting. Choose By tag when your cards are already organized by topic and you want to study one topic at a time.
Assumptions and limits
This page works best with lists of 5 to 500 cards. The split is sequential. It does not shuffle or randomize. If you need a random order, copy your list into a randomizer first, then paste the shuffled result here. All processing happens in your browser. No data is sent to any server.
Questions people ask
- What format should my flashcards be in?
- One card per line. You can write the question, the answer, or both. To group by topic, start the line with a tag like [biology] or [chapter-3].
- Can I save my work?
- Your list is saved in your browser so you can come back to it. You can also export a text file or copy the batch plan to paste somewhere else.
- What happens if I have fewer cards than batches?
- Each batch gets at least one card. If you ask for more batches than cards, the page adjusts down and tells you the actual count.
- Is there a card limit?
- You can enter up to 500 cards. That keeps the page fast on any device.
- Can I split by topic instead of equal groups?
- Yes. Use the "By tag" mode. Cards with the same [tag] prefix stay together. Untagged cards go into their own mixed batch.
